Oh my gosh! Sushi here is so fresh and favors are just amazing. Texture of food is also very good. I came here for lunch with my co-worker and instantly fell in love with the place. $28 lunch is a bit on the pricier side but hey, with this quality, I am willing to pay for it! There are lots of Japanese and Asian Americans at this place (including myself), which means, this is a real deal. hahaha

Two thumbs up and I will absolutely go back!

Omakase is the way  to go here. ($70 0r $100 pp). Let the sushi chef guide you through what he has that's best. You won't be sorry! Yum!!!

small helpings and lunch sets above $15. I hear the sashimi & roe are very fresh, but not being an aficionado, it's lost on me. The curry rice set is deceptive and just consists of plain sauce without meat, for $9!

So come here & enjoy, if you like salmon, roe and other raw stuff, but for cooked-japanese-food lovers like moi, we're better off at katsuhama :D

My favorite sushi and my gold standard not that it is the very best but there's something solid about it. You can measure the fancier venues against its quality and that's high praise. Dinner has a more variegated menu than lunch inc many specialty appetizers. Could it be more fresh fish? Always have the sea urchin, myself.

Best sushi in NYC? Sorry for those who think so.
Miso soup and seaweed salad were fair at best. Appetizer of oysters with asparagus and anchovy sauce had us digging for the oysters and avoiding everything else. This was not because the dish was too authentic ... it was just poorly prepared. Several sushi pieces were very good (uni, eel, a special shrimp). Eggplant and omelet sushi were tasteless. Brown tea was inferior. Service was friendly but clumsy and slow. A disappointment overall.

Came here for lunch on the recommendation of a co-worker who while at another company used to come here pretty regularly.  The first thing he noticed was that the prices had increased quite a bit since he had last been here.

I ended up getting the bento box lunch for which I ended up selecting the spicy tuna roll, chicken teriyaki and sashimi.  The chicken was overly cooked which seemed to be the consensus at our table with the various cooked items.

The rolls were pretty good and looked great but for the cost it didn't seem overly justified.

The decor is simple and is definitely not as crowded as surrounding restaurants which makes it a suitable place to have a lunch meeting.

Waitstaff seemed a little absent minded but they did seem to be pretty apologetic about it and were happy to help when you flagged them down.

Hmm... probably the "weakest" sushi rolls I've had in a yelp 4-star japanese restaurant. Chopped salmon in all the sushi? A little gross. I personally think it's a sign that the fish is low quality and they don't want you to know, or that they are simply weird...

I am also not a fan of the spicy pickle in the rainbow rolls, the pickle over-powered the roll with a unpleasant spicy-ness and after taste.

What's with the cheap sweet+spicy sauce that chinese take-out places give u... for sushi? Seriously? You are gonna give me some orange color starch that taste like it came out of a plastic packet with white dragon on it? For my sushi? I don't think so.

The ramen was the saving grace of this joint, it's the reason why they didn't get a one star despite their horrible service and low quality sushi. I almost feel bad for the fish... to die for such pointless causes. But anyway, the ramen was al-dente, which I liked a lot, and the meat, bamboo and soup base was flavorful.

Am I missing something here?!

Came here for lunch with Tracy C after reading all the fabulous reviews, and I have to admit, I was slightly embarrassed that I took a fellow elite member to this place...........I suppose redeeming dish of the meal was the ramen special, we both agreed that the noodles were a little chewy, giving it more texture, something we both appreciated. But honestly, the rolls were a little disappointing - the special "sauces" that came with were not only NOT explained (wow..so many negatives..) they were also not anything special. Service was subpar, they kept trying to remove dishes that we weren't done with. HELLO?! I'm still working on my food. Worse, they didn't even apologize. Tea was never refilled and service as well as food was generally lacking.

i wish I was next door or something.

Probably the best sushi place I've been to in NYC. I've been here 4 times and each time has been amazing.

Everything I've had here has been fresh, prepared well, and presented beautifully. I think Omakase is the way to go if you're looking to try something new as well as leave in food coma, but be warned, it can be a bit pricey. ($100+pp).
