I came here and the store looked a mess.
I prefer Brooklyn Heights location.

I likey.
The Men's sale section was huge, perhaps half of their offerings were markdowns. It seems like they are going through a transition in the store, perhaps setting up for the spring line-up. The store looked a little bare and disheveled.
I made several purchases after being told that there is no sales tax on clothing in NYC (under a certain amount). Really!? That's just amazing to me. I've been operating this whole time, during my vacation, under the impression that there was sales tax. Now I'm forced to do more shopping in NYC.
Overall, I was pleased with the size of the store and the pace of the line at checkout. All of the associates that I dealt with were helpful and pleasant. I will definitely come back on my next trip out east. Banana is a great spot for the basics but not for top layer clothing.
Take it easy...
Easily my favorite Banana Republic in the city. Lots of space, big selection, and they always seem to have more items on the sale racks than other Banana locations.
Not a HUGE fan of Banana Republic but this one is not bad. Its filled with clothes and always neat and organized.
Nice sales and close to other similar shops so you can go on a mini shopping spree and not leave the block
Much better than the Banana Republic that I had in my mall back home with much more people oriented workers.
Where is the rush?
The store layout and organization is nice and easy on the eye.
The staff is always running around - whats going on, let me know.
The selection of mens clothing is nice - even if it is on sale or not on sale.
The mannequins some time are a bit awkward looking maybe it is the way they are dressed or the lack of dressing.
Overall always have a nice time and always can find something to try on.
Pros:
1) Large inventory with various sizes, color and fits
2) Friendly customer service in aiding requests
3) Highly organized and well displayed items
Cons:
1) Mannequins are at times not dressed properly
Hands down one of the best Banana Republic branch stores on the island of Manhattan!!!
This branch has all the essentials needed to outfit an individual for either a warm summer day to a candlelight dinner.
This particular branch is a class A branch of all Banana Republics. Meaning, they carry all of the items advertised (with the exception of those that are online exclusives).
On numerous occasions, the store manager Zach had offered assistance on finding sizes, colors, and fits.
I'd highly recommend anyone looking for a particular article from either BR Men or Women to visit this particular branch first hand.
I stopped by in here today since I had a $30 off a $100 coupon (thanks Netflix!). I usually never find anything at BR since it's always too expensive for me to justify paying $100 for a cardigan but I decided since I had my coupon to try it out. And I was happy I did. I thought their petite section was pretty good. And maybe cause of their 30% off for their 30 year anniversary sale, and transition from summer to fall, I made it with some great finds. I got a few tops that will look cute with jeans. The dressing room salesperson was nice and helpful, too. They have a lot of rooms, too. No waiting needed. Overall, everyone was very nice. I even noticed they call customers "clients."
Banana Republic is a sad store. Every time I go, there are barely any customers there- and I only go to the place when they have sales! The merchandise is generally "stiff" and good for people who work in an uptight office environment. One time I went there I found a pretty nice grey wool skirt with pockets that I could make look even better with some other pieces and accessories. The skirt was on sale for $24 so I bought it. But the frickin' GAP CORPORATION had to find some way to jam me up... I used my stupid Gap card to gain points but I was a day late on my payment and they charged me a $25 late fee! The bastards! They should be happy I bought something in the first place considering they'll be out of business soon. Every time I look at the skirt it reminds me that I actually spent $50 on it.
Despite the large size of this store - it is not the best BR location. Perhaps due to the frequent tourist traffic, the salespeople in this store always seem kind of frazzled. Also, this store doesn't have a good range of sizes (again, probably due to high traffic). If you wear petite sizes, the petite section is extremely small. The arrangement of the store is not the most convenient - there is a lot of empty space and the clothes are spread really far apart.
